Thriftworks /// Fade

0

I spent yesterday morning nursing post halloween hangovers and mellowing out with this new treat from Thriftworks (which conveniently came out yesterday!)

‘Fade’ is the latest release from the Californian producer and boasts 14 tracks inspired by a range of genres, from Hip Hop to Dubstep to Psychedelia and more!

‘Rumour Has It’ is a sublime track that showcases Thriftworks’ skill at creating beautiful soundscapes.  The track mellows the listener with its tricking sound and gentle, fluttering guitar samples. Trust me, after the weekend I had this track was warmly welcomed and put me right at ease!

Nuage /// Prints Of You

St. Petersburg… home to forward thinking D&B producers like Enei and light, mellow producers like Monokle. In between these two sits Nuage, an artist who has managed to merge these two influences and created something beautifully unique… the “Prints Of You LP.”

The album boasts 15 tracks of smooth, polished production rich in emotion and elegance. There’s hints of Synkro, Bonobo and some great features from Gerwin, iTAL tEK and Silent Dust. “Prints Of You” offers so much in terms of genre, an album to please many ears.

Oceaán /// Grip

0

Earlier this year, Manchester based Oceaán released self-titled EP. Featuring heavy synths and combining electronic sounds with soul, the EP sparked comparisons to Ben Khan and Jai Paul.

Oceaán has recently shared a new track, Grip. The track shows the range of skills he has as a producer, slowly building the track with samples and glass-like percussion. It seems as though Oceaán has found his sound, and we’re pretty excited about the future.

Mansionair /// Hold Me Down (Maths Time Joy Remix)

0

Despite having only ever shared one track, Mansionair have had over a million plays on SoundCloud for Hold Me Down. This has subsequently led to them being signed to Goodbye Records (CHVRCHES label). The track has very recently been remixed by Maths Time Joy who has added a heavy low-end to the track and polyrhythmic beats. The result is super chilled, and pretty damn tasty.

Kraftwerk residency tour continues: Paris and Amsterdam

0

Kraftwerk have announced the dates and locations for the next leg of their KRAFTWERK – THE CATALOGUE tour. The German electronic group will be performing in Paris from November 6th to 14th and then Amsterdam early next year from January 16th to 23rd. The Amsterdam leg will take place at legendary live music space Paradiso whilst the Paris venue is yet to be announced.

Kraftwerk have already debuted this tour in London, LA and New York to rave reviews, proving that the godfathers of electronic music still have it. The show features the group performing tracks from their back catalogue of albums to the accompaniment of 3D visuals. In keeping with Kraftwerk’s lo-fi approach, audience members are given old school cardboard 3D glasses to view the visuals which are characteristically space-kitsch in design.

The running order for the tour is available here.

A while ago we blogged about Basement Jaxx’s announcement of a new album, ‘Junto’. Well, it’s out 25 August, but the guys over at Pitchfork have exclusive streaming rights for the entire album. So, if you can’t wait (which we can’t) head over there now to get your fix.

Little Dragon /// Nabuma Rubberband

0

One of the albums music listeners should be on the look out for this year is Little Dragon‘s Nabuma Rubberband. Little dragon’s popularity is increasing by the day. The bands primarily electronic backing tracks that sit alongside the amazing vocals of Yakumi Nagano have worked for them time and time before, which assures us that they can release another brilliant album.

Whilst Little Dragon have crafted their own sound through their originality and songwriting, their obvious understanding of music and pop music has clearly kept them grounded into making listenable tunes that are not over the top in obscurity. ‘Let Go’ from their highly anticipated album has been released onto their soundcloud and does not disappoint, if they can retain this sound throughout whilst keeping their spark we are sure to be hearing another create piece of work from the band.
