Known for blending guitars with honest vocals in his genre-bending music, the artist and producer San Holo  (real name Sander Van Dijck) is widely recognised as an innovator of electronic music. Today he shares an emotive new single ‘bb u ok?’ alongside the news of signing to Counter Records.

“‘bb u ok?’ is a question for you to ask yourself & the lovely people around you” explains Sander on the single, “Life is so fast paced these days, we often don’t take the time to answer this question genuinely. It’s so easy to fall out of touch with yourself and the people you love. We need genuine conversations and connections to keep going…So, reach out to someone close to you today with a simple ‘bb u ok?’”

Bringing people together is at the core of San’s music. His ‘stay vibrant’ philosophy, which encourages people to be in touch with their own thoughts and feelings, as well as with each other, has created a strong sense of community amongst his fans (over 1.5M followers across platforms). Most recently, he introduced the ‘stay vibrant’ collection, an “ever expanding music collection”, from which he shared a new beat or demo every week from March through May of 2020, culminating in seven songs featuring Luwten, Analogue Dear, and ILIVEHERE

Recorded in LA’s Echo Park, ‘bb u ok?’ is San Holo’s first studio release since his acclaimed collaboration with Broods at the start of 2020, ‘Honest’. His debut album “album1”, released in 2018, received amazing support across the board, resulting in San being awarded the International Dance Music Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and the Edison Pop Award (Dutch equivalent of the GRAMMYs) for Best Dance Album. Press support came from outlets including Forbes, Grammy, Billboard (landing at #7 on the Dance/Electronic Albums chart), Rolling Stone, Dancing Astronaut, This Song Is Sick, and Earmilk, who rated the album 9/10 and described it as “a rainbow of raw human emotions drenched in pastels and shimmering gold”.

His 2019 world tour for “album1” included 75 shows and sold over 100, 000 tickets across North America, Europe, Asia, New Zealand & Australia, including sell out shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and New York’s Terminal 5. Festival appearances included Coachella, EDC, Outside Lands, Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza and more, plus during 2020 San has performed various virtual sets including Porter Robinson’s Secret Sky Festival.

Alongside his solo work San Holo has collaborated with a variety of artists including James Vincent McMorrow, Chet Porter and Lunice. He also founded his own label, bitbird, in 2014.

A welcome addition to the Counter Records roster, sitting comfortably alongside ODESZA, Kasbo and Big Gigantic to name a few, San Holo shares ‘bb u ok?’ with more new music set for 2021.
